WELCOME TO COUNTY OAK ARCHERY CLUB (COAC)
WHO WE ARE
County Oak Archery Club has been established for more than 50 years, serving the communities of Brighton, Hove, and Sussex. We specialize in target archery and are affiliated with Archery GB (AGB). Our club motto is "recti oculi", which means "straight eyes".
We are a small, friendly, and active club with around 35–40 members, operating as a non-profit organization. Throughout the year, we organize a variety of club events and in-house competitions for members to participate in. Additionally, you may choose to engage in open competitions across the county and beyond. If you simply want to come along and shoot, that's perfectly fine; we always welcome new members. Our primary goal is for every member to enjoy archery, whether at a competitive or social level – you decide the level at which you wish to participate. It's all about enjoyment!
The club has a diverse membership with a range of skills and bow styles, including recurve, compound, and longbow/traditional.
WHEN AND WHERE WE SHOOT
We shoot all the year around, outdoors during the summer months from April to mid-September, and indoors in the autumn/winter from late September to April.
Our outdoor shooting venue is situated in the beautiful grounds of Hove Park School, and we have access to this facility throughout the year on Sunday afternoons (between 1:00 and 4:00 pm) and also on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings (between 6:00 and 8:30 pm) during the spring and summer months.
In late September, our evening sessions transition indoors to our shooting venue at Blatchington Mill School on Monday and Wednesday evenings (between 7:00 and 9:00 pm).
